Circus Two - Out Now

Circus Two - Out Now

Following the release of ‘Circus One’, Circus Records have released the next instalment of their mammoth compilation series ‘Circus Two’ curated by the next generation of that distinctive, international Circus sound.

Buy Here:

iTunes | Beatport | Juno | Trackitdown | Amazon

Featuring original tracks from all the current Circus crop, including label co-founders Doctor P and Flux Pavilion, as well as FuntCase, Cookie Monsta, Brown and Gammon, Mizuki, Roksonix and Slum Dogz, ‘Circus Two’ clocks in at a mammoth 25 tracks with almost half exclusive to this release.

From the pairing of presenters Cookie Monsta and FuntCase on the dark and dangerous rolling beats of ‘Atom Bomb’ which will be the tune to remix in order to win a release on the label in the future, it’s clear Circus has saved only the finest monster new cuts for ‘Circus Two’. Roksonix hook trademark wobbles with uplifting pop vocals on ‘Feel Good’ as Circus’ newbie Mizuki layer arcade-inspired synths to incredible effect on ‘Block Party’, proving the next generation of Circus artists are where it’s at when it comes to incredible club music with added humour and punch.

That’s not to say that ‘Circus Two’ is lacking in modern-day classics. Just check Flux Pavilion and SKisM feat Foreign Beggars attitude-laden ‘Jump Back’, Roksonix ‘Dogfight’ or FuntCase’s haunting ‘Ghosts’ for pounding reminders that Circus have continued to deliver on-point bass music since inception in 2010.

With the release of ‘Circus One’ thrusting Flux Pavilion and Doctor P into the mainstream with hits ‘Bass Cannon’ and ‘Sweet Shop’, ‘Circus Two’ will be no exception for FuntCase and Cookie Monsta. Two of the most in-demand international DJs, regularly selling out huge venues across the globe, these guys know a thing or two about thumping tunes. Consider ‘Circus Two’ their testimony.

Mizuki - Punch Out - Out Now

Mizuki - Punch Out - Out Now

Mizuki, one of Circus Records freshest signings, announces a colossal single ‘Punch Out’ and B-side ‘Oh Yeah’, a double that is set to put him firmly on the radar as one of Bass Music’s hottest talents. Tracks ‘Punch Out’ and ‘Oh Yeah’ are out now via Circus Records.

Pre Order on iTunes

Mizuki’s production talents are fully recognised on this release, with his addictive melodies shining through crystal clear production, as filthy basslines cut deep on tracks built for the dancefloor.

Citing futurism as one of his biggest influences, lead track ‘Punch Out’ features an array of glittering futuristic, electronic sounds that lure you toward the melodic, synth-driven track. Also inspired by a wide range of artists from the tranquil sounds of Imogen Heap to the heavier tones of Porcupine Tree, it’s the latter’s influence that shape the blasting basslines heard in ‘Punch Out’.

‘Oh Yeah’ subtly builds as carefully layered instrumentation and vocal edits create an atmospheric intro before a monstrous bassline and pounding drums thrusts ‘Oh Yeah’ skywards, leaving dancefloors in brilliant mayhem.

Producing since he was 16, Dunfermline’s Mizuki, earned his deal with Circus Records through a jaw-dropping remix of label co-founder Doctor P and Jenna G’s track ‘Neon’. Still only a Circus Records newcomer, Mizuki is soon to be held in the same high esteem as label co-founders Doctor P and Flux Pavilion.

FuntCase - Don't P*ss Me Off - Out Now

FuntCase - Don't P*ss Me Off - Out Now

One of Circus Record’s filthiest and with the most loyal fans on the scene, you can rely on FuntCase to bring the bass overload. ‘Don’t P*ss Me Off’ is an eight-track turbo-charged electronic flex.

Buy Instore

Featuring collaborations with Foreign Beggars and The OGz on ‘Everybody Knows’, FuntCase marries grime flavours with that trademark bass synth, while title track ‘Don’t P*ss Me Off’ featuring MIK ups tempo and battens down the hatches for a grinding dancefloor bomb.

Further guests come in the shape of Engine Earz on ‘Charged Particle’ and Pearl sponsored metal drummer Daniil Svetlov on ‘Titanium’; a track to blast away any doubts about the power of that energetic, aggressive death metal drumming style that infiltrates FuntCase’s rawest sounds. ‘Angry Claw’ is intense; the audio, pogo-packaged titled after FuntCase’s on-stage claw trademark.

Known for his raw and dirty style, FuntCase is already one of the most influential players in electronic music, this EP simply cements that.

Tracklisting:

1. FuntCase - Everybody Knows (feat. Foreign Beggars vs The OGz)

2. FuntCase - Don't P*ss Me Off (feat. MIK)

3. FuntCase - Stomptown

4. FuntCase - Angry Claws

5. FuntCase and Engine-Earz Experiment - Charged Particle (feat. Lewis Cutler)

6. FuntCase - FAIL!

7. FuntCase - Predator

8. FuntCase - Titanium (feat. Daniil Svetlov)

The Dogfight EP is out now, here's a taster of the tracks on YouTube

After riding the wave of success in a somewhat whirlwind year that has seen them go from strength to strength with Flux Pavilion and Doctor P’s Circus Records, Roksonix gear up to release ‘Dogfight EP’ on 25th November via Circus.

A producer/DJ double act from North London, Roksonix are Guy Abbott and Phil Desborough. Now, having toured through Australia and Canada, with DJ support from the likes of Skrillex and Rusko and remixes for Maverick Sabre and Nero under their increasingly bulging belt, Roksonix look set to only continue their hugely impressive success even further.

Tracks getting played by: Skism, Sub Focus, Jaguar Skills, Dirtyphonics, Excision, Dodge & Fuski, Rusko, Loadstar, Datsik, MistaJam and many more.

Listen on YouTube

We still can’t stop listening to this little beauty, when we first heard ‘Swing Break’ it blew us away and it hasn’t stopped doing so since. The McMash Clan are made up of three Londoners and beyond making beats they also have a sick 4 deck live show and have performed at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown and Bloc.

When you start talking to DJs about a new artist it’s sometimes tough to convince them that they should be checking them out. On this occasion it was the opposite, the DJ glitterati have been going mad for it since mail out. One of the first people to jump on board was Skrillex and since then it’s snowballed. From Dillon Francis to Emalkay, from Hatcha to Blame and from Crissy Criss to N Type, the diverse response has been incredible across dance-floors and radio’s worldwide.

Vocals come from Kate Mullins, a lead member of the swing punk vocal trio the Puppini Sisters, the best-dressed girl band in history.

Flux Tour Comes To An End

Flux Tour Comes To An End

3 weeks, 13 destinations and 1500 miles later, the Flux Pavilion Standing on a Hill sell out UK tour has come to an end. From the four tips of the Kingdom, from Brighton to Glasgow from Cardiff to Norwich, Flux smashed venues to pieces with his live show. Mosh Pits were everywhere, dance-floors were packed and going wild from the moment doors opened. This sort of thing hasn’t been seen in some of these theatres since the mid-nineties.

Utilising a brand new production including massive HD screens, lasers and bespoke visuals, the feedback from fans was positive through out. Those at the shows were given a taste of Flux’s new EP ‘Blow The Roof’ (street date 3rd September), tracks like ‘One Two Three’ and ‘Do or Die’ became anthems by the end of the tour.

Supporting Flux through his travels was US legend Dillon Francis who brought with him his own flavours, went down a storm. Each city also played host to another member of the Circus Family with Roksonix, Brown and Gammon and new signing Mizuki stepping up to the plate at various different venues.

To see some shots of the show, please check out the gallery.

'Dirty Doris' out now

'Dirty Doris' out now

Brown and Gammon was one of the first artists to appear on Circus, back in the heady days of 2009 with ‘Painkillers’. At the time you could see the raw talent shining through. In 2012 that former stone of Dubstep potential has become a perfectly sculpted expression of EDM, the Brown and Gammon way.

Heads turned at the release of ‘How I Feel’, Brown and Gammon’s track on the recent ‘Mr Mongoose’ EP, the crafted melodies and bass line hooks demonstrated a fresh angle, a unique approach to bass. The time of Brown and Gammon is here with the release of ‘Dirty Doris’ and ‘Rock Da Beats’, turn it on and let the music do the talking. A diverse array of DJs including the likes of Mistajam, Blame, DJ Semtex, Rusko, Dirtyphonics, N Type, Crissy Criss , Skism and Loadstar all agree that the sounds of Brown and Gammon need to be heard.

Out now.

Out Now 'Get Live' / 'Girlz' By Roksonix

It's over two years since Roksonix decided to reply to the Circus remix competition, re-making Flux Pavilion's 'Voscilate' in their own design. Wonder if they ever expected that it would help them become fully fledged members of the Circus Family.

Further proof of their skills can be found in the two tracks released on Circus Records this week. Track 1 is the massive 'Get Live' and is backed with 'Girlz' featuring MC Spyda (of 'Tarantula' fame).

Flux Pavilion Added To Brixton Line Up

Flux Pavilion Added To Brixton Line Up

On Friday 5th October the full Circus Records crew will be descending upon Electric Brixton for a special label showcase, taking the reigns for seven hours of top quality bass-driven music. With their burgeoning roster in tow and a unique production created especially for the night, the label will be giving attendees the full immersive Circus experience. Expect heavy beats, maniacal basslines and a raft of suprises along the way.

In the three years since its inception the label, set up by long-time friends Doctor P and Flux Pavilion with Maximum Boost heads Swan-E and Earl Falconer, has quickly risen to become an internationally renowned movement bringing the best in all things bass related. Emerging out of a rapidly evolving dubstep scene as a vehicle to put out Flux and Doctor P’s own productions, the label’s growing roster now includes bass stalwarts Cookie Monsta, Funtcase, Roksonix and Brown & Gammon as well, cementing their status as scene leaders and champions of fresh talent.

On 5th October the whole crew will be joining this one-off lineup - including a very special unannounced guest (sshhhh!) - each bringing with them their unique sound to complete the labyrinthine Circus puzzle. The bill will be completed by Krafty MC who will be on hosting duties for the night. As a seasoned entertainer and one third of Slum Dogz, he will be riling up the crowd as he oversees proceedings. With the label and many of its artists constantly busy collaborating with other producers, vocalist and MCs, you can be sure that there will be some more surprise appearances along the way, but we will leave it up to you to guess who they might be.

Intent on making this a special occasion, Circus will also going the extra mile with a full production that will ensure that this is anything but an ordinary club night. From the moment you step in the door to the moment you leave, you will be treated to the full, no holds barred Circus show.

Cookie Monsta Vs America

Cookie Monsta Vs America

Finally, the USA knows what it’s like to feel the Cookie Monsta. Manic and totally infectious have been the words previously used to describe the legend that Tony Cook has crafted.

'WTF, I've been to the US on many occasions, but the crowd at EDC were mental, I can't wait to play there again' says Cookie.

Cookie Monsta was performing as part of Flux Pavilion’s sell out Standing on the Hill tour, crowds lapped up his latest beats, including the up and coming smasher ‘Your Momma’s Ass’.

Standing on the Hill, Flux Returns from US Tour

Standing on the Hill, Flux Returns from US Tour

Between helping run a scene-leading label and writing some of the sickest beats on the planet, Circus’s own Flux Pavilion has just returned from his first (sell out) US tour. Fans from NYC, LA, Denver, Chicago and more all got the chance to go nuts to the Circus sound. The likes of ‘I Can’t Stop’ and ‘Bass Cannon’ proving their worth on the floors of all the venues (including Red Rocks and EDC) that Flux and his crew took over.

'The response was truly overwhelming. Before I even went on stage for the show in Austin, the noise was deafening.  I have to say that 5 weeks travelling on a tour bus was great fun' said Flux.

The tour took place in May and June, Circus stable mates Cookie Monsta and Brown & Gammon ably assisted as support acts. The lucky fans that managed to catch the shows are unlikely to forget it; epic doesn’t come close.

Flux Pavilion Nominated For MTVU 2012 Woodie Award

Flux Pavilion's mega 'I Can't Stop' which helped make 'Who Gon Stop Me' one of  Jay Z and Kanye West's 'Watch The Throne' albums most stand out tracks.  And considering it was alongside the likes of  the tracks 'Paris' and 'Otis' was quite a feat.

Flux has been nominated along such luminaries as Calvin Harris (feat. Rihanna) and Benni Benassi (feat. Chris Brown).

Flux Pavilion Headlining First US Tour

Flux Pavilion Headlining First US Tour

Josh Steele, better known as bass practitioner Flux Pavilion, has announced his first string of headlining dates in the US. Coming off a landmark appearance at Ultra in March, the UK producer/DJ/musician is slated to bring his eclectic taste to audiences on both coasts this summer. Flux Pavilion posses the unique ability to readjust the American palate to the dubstep formula, maintaining the nuances of the genre, whilst also incorporating various musical elements, rendering Josh capable of winning over the most discerning ears. His virtuosic production spurred Kanye West to sample a large portion of his "I Can't Stop" for "Who Gon' Stop Me" from the "Watch The Throne" album with Jay-Z. This US jaunt will take Flux up and down both coasts and kicks off at the sold-out Coachella festival in Indio, California. These stateside appearances, combined with forthcoming single releases on Circus/Big Beat, it's clear that the stars are aligning for Flux Pavilion this summer.
